Port of Chania
Harbour Information, Terminals and Facilities
(Chania, Crete, Greece)
The ferry port of Chania is actually located 6 km / 4 miles to the east of Souda; however, disembarking passengers should have no problem in reaching Chania, as there is a regular bus service available as well as plenty of taxis plying the route.
Passengers arriving by car should be aware that parking around the port area can be limited during the busy summer months.
Facilities at the port itself are limited to a few vending machines, telephones and public conveniences; although within a short walk of the terminal you will find a number of shops and restaurants that cater to the large number of passengers who pass through the port everyday.
Chania Information: Ferry Services
Two companies are currently operating sailings to Chania from the Athens port of Piraeus. ANEK Lines runs a daily overnight service that has a crossing time of around 9 hours; this service uses conventional ferries and is in operation throughout the year.
Hellenic Seaways offer a fast crossing from Piraeus using a high-speed catamaran; this service runs everyday and takes around 4 hours, 30 minutes to make the crossing. This high-speed route is in operation throughout the year, but it can be subject to change during the winter months.
